　　二战后，英国政府有过三次公然干预BBC（英国广播公司）节目的事件，一次是1954/55年关于氢弹的报道，一次是1956年苏伊士运河危机期间，还有一次，就是1965年关于彼得·沃金斯的这部电影《战争游戏》。该片本受BBC电视台委托而作，原是为纪念广岛长崎原子弹悲剧二十周年，摄制完成后，却因为其过于真实强大的冲击力、感染力和对英国完全无用的核政策的全面否定，而被政府视为核裁军运动的宣传品，从而干预BBC，先是要求大规模删减，最后干脆下了软禁令，导致该片被一向以开明公正而闻名的BBC禁播达二十年之久。
